I polled my friends incessantly on what to name this endeavor: Glowfolk, Fae & Fawn Apothecary, Siren Skincare & Beauty, Forest & Faire Apothecary....
I wanted a name that would feel like what I want this brand to be — pretty, empowering, natural, approachable, luxurious, whimsical— there's truly something magical about feeling beautiful.
The idea for this business came from trying to buy a beauty gift set for my mother and spent hours on Clearya trying to find something that was right for her age and skincare needs without harmful toxins.
I went down the rabbit hole of clean beauty only to realize that the US lags 80 nations such as the UK, EU, and Australia in banning up to 1,600 chemicals from our cosmetics.
That’s how the idea for a natural apothecary was born. I started swapping out my beauty products, trying more natural alternatives. Unable to handle throwing out products I bought at luxury prices under clean & green labeling, I moved them to travel sets for non-wasteful, but less frequent use.
I hated when I forget to re-order a product or realized I needed a few things for a work trip, the Midwest seemed to be an underserved market for clean & natural beauty.

What I loved, however, was the results. It turns out, we don't really need all those chemicals. We just need high quality products and a consistent routine.
In addition to reading about which ingredients I didn't want in my skincare, I also learned a lot about which ones I did want. I slowly learned the type of ingredients that work best for my specific needs, how much the order of operations matters in skincare routines, and that if we have the funds to treat ourselves, we'll get better results using a different product mix in the evening & in the morning. There are, of course, wallet-friendly staples and minimalist routines for those who either won the genetic lottery or want to keep things simple. At only a year in, the jury is still out on whether my beauty rituals will help me age gracefully, but today, I enjoy the glow.
The idea of beauty rituals & dualities is how Luna & Lark became the name.
Luna, for the moon. She’s the quiet pull toward rest, reflection, and renewal. The gentle reminder to slow down and tune in. At Luna & Lark, she represents our evening rituals — calming balms, silky serums, nourishing oils, and moonlit moments of self-connection. She’s the glow you carry with you after the world goes quiet.
Lark, for the morning bird. The one who rises early, singing into the light. She’s about beginnings — bright, fresh, and full of energy. Our sunrise rituals are built with her in mind: cleansers that wake up tired skin, vitamin-rich mists, and natural SPF to greet the day. She’s the radiance you step into as the world awakens.
Together, Luna & Lark capture the natural duality of our lives — the way we ebb and flow, rest and rise, ground and grow. Skincare, to us, isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about tuning in to your own rhythm, morning and night, and honoring what your skin and spirit truly need.
🌿 A Name That Reflects Our Values
Luna & Lark also reflects our core commitments:
- Nature-first ingredients — clean, conscious formulations without harmful chemicals or fillers.
- Daily ritual, not sterile routine — skincare as a self-honoring practice.
- Beauty for every phase — from sunrise to moonrise, pregnancy to postpartum, aging to glowing.
- Small-batch, cruelty-free, and Certified B Corp–aligned brands — because what touches your skin should align with your values.
We chose a name that would carry the poetry of a slower, more thoughtful beauty movement. No matter how much time you have or which time of day, I encourage you to do something for you. I hope Luna & Lark Apothecary can be a part of those moments that fill your cup.
So whether you’re rising with the sun or resting under stars, we’re here to remind you: beauty is a ritual. And your glow? It begins with intention.
Welcome to Luna & Lark.
